Is The Fendi Baguette The First Handbag To Literally Inspire Poetry ? [bag]
Fendi Baguettes are the new Grecian urns. Ok, not quite, but they do now share the distinct honor of being the subjects of some very reverential poetry. The handbag is often credited as the first real 'It' bag, inspiring long waiting lists and early knockoffs. Indeed, they do possess a collect 'em all allure – or perhaps that's just because their popularity reached fever pitch while we were still knee-deep in the Pokemon and Beanie Baby frenzy of the late 1990s.
With their small size and streamlined design they lend themselves to the kind of embellishment that could overwhelm on a more substantial canvas. The perfect party bag, in other words. It seems writer Banana Yoshimoto agrees (Banana! We like her already.) She dedicates a poem to the bag in Fendi's upcoming tome on the subject, set to be released on June 1st to coincide with the re-issue of six original designs:It wouldn't suit me if it were even a smidgen bigger.
And if it were even a little smaller, it would double as an ornament.Gang of eight accused of snatching women's handbags. We all find ourselves alone from time to time – in a party, in a car, in a restaurant, or walking down the street. We may not know why we are alone, or even why we are here. In times like this, this bag will stay close beside you like a puppy, like a parrot perching on your shoulder, or like the doll you were never without in your childhood. Yes, it stays with you just like a best friend.

Gang of eight accused of snatching women's handbags [bag]
Sharjah Sharjah Police arrested a gang of eight men Tuesday for allegedly stealing handbags from women who had withdrawn cash from banks.Police said the gang stole the handbags by first distracting the women. An official at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police said they received a number of complaints, including three women from Al Butaina area, stating that some men had snatched their handbags.
"After the women withdrew their cash and entered their vehicles, one of the suspects would knock on the victim's window and claim that there was a problem with the vehicle. As the victim got out of the car, another suspect would then snatch the purse from the passenger seat and run away," the CID official said.A security team was then formed to investigate the robberies and, during the investigation, Sharjah Police were able to arrest two Afghan men who confessed that they worked with six other accomplices, also from Afghanistan. They also admitted to stealing a large amount of money, which police declined to disclose, in addition to gold jewellery.
The investigation was further intensified and police were able to identify the whereabouts of the remaining suspects, including two men who were previously deported for carrying out thefts from bank customers and who had re-entered the country illegally. The victims then confirmed that the suspects in question had stopped them outside the bank. The case has been referred to the Sharjah Public Prosecution.Sharjah Police have warned bank customers to take precautions while withdrawing large sums of money from banks, and not to go alone in order to prevent such crimes.

Are you a fan of leather goods but, due to religious restrictions, apprehensive about accidentally buying those made from pigskin?Today TRG Leather Sdn Bhd offers an alternative - leather goods made locally from goatskin. The leather used in their manufacture has even been certified "halal" by the Terengganu Department of Islamic Affairs. The manufacture of brilliantly designed products - such as leather handbags with "songket" weaving - has catapulted the company from the local market into the international one, the company's director, Zaitul Affiza Zainudin informed Bernama when interviewed here recently at the handbag-making factory owned by her family in Serating.
The company, which was established in 2008, has become the only local company to manufacture leather goods on a large scale in Malaysia.Zaitul Affiza is aware that the locals have a poor perception of locally made products, and she therefore strives to keep up with international manufacturers. She knows the company must remain abreast of the latest trends, maintain the quality of its products and broaden its marketing strategies to survive.Handbag designer Rebecca Minkoff comes to Saks in Boca Raton.
With the latest design innovations, Zaitul Affiza is confident that the company sales will increase by 20 per cent - that is, by RM96,000 - by the end of the year.Throughout last year the company, which manufactures jackets, belts, hats, shoes, wallets and sling bags made from goatskin, achieved average monthly sales of RM40,000 - or RM480,000 per year, she remarked. She added that the company would not rest on its laurels by producing stereotypical leather designs but instead strive to create products with a more creative edge.

Every woman needs a sophisticated, well-made handbag or tote for carrying everyday belongings or for a weekend getaway. Austin transplant Ben Freedland created Zink handbags for the everyday journey in life. Each bag in the collection is named after a form of transportation: the jaunt, the steamship and the ferry. The idea for Zink began after Freedland traveled to Thailand to recharge and figure out the next course he wanted to take in his career. He found a small Thailand cooperative making hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics and set to work on formulating a plan.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Freedland headed to New York City after college and found a niche in the fashion industry. He has years of experience at places such as Georgio Armani, Bergdorf Goodman and Diesel, and was director of merchandise wholesale sales for Burberry. The years spent in the New York fashion wholesale industry gave him the design foundation to create classic handbags, travel bags and totes. He knows what specific customers want and what doesn't work in design.Motorist kept baby in her handbag.
Freedland's attention to detail is impeccable. Every element is intricately crafted, from leather stitching to YKK zippers to the small detachable pouch inside his bigger bags and dust bag with leather drawstring. Freedland uses upholstery fabrics, including canvas and naturally-dyed and hand-woven fabrics from India and Thailand. The classic design of the Zink logo was created in homage to his grandfather, Robert Zink, who is an accomplished artist and Nantucket basket weaver.
